DALL·E 3 becomes available to ChatGPT Plus and Enterprise users
OpenAI makes DALL·E 3 available to ChatGPT Plus and Enterprise users, who can generate an image in conversation and request further changes.
What happened
Event details
OpenAI made DALL·E 3 available to ChatGPT Plus and Enterprise users on October 19, 2023. Users could describe an image in ordinary language and request revisions in later turns; ChatGPT converted the request into a more detailed generation prompt. OpenAI also described deployment controls. The system checked both prompts and generated images, restricted violent, adult and hateful content, and reduced the likelihood of producing images of public figures or in the style of a living artist. OpenAI discussed an internal provenance-classifier experiment but cautioned that it could only indicate that an image was likely generated by DALL·E, not establish that conclusion definitively. Availability on that date was limited to ChatGPT Plus and Enterprise, not every ChatGPT user.
