Compared with Opus 4.8, Claude Opus 5 focuses on deep reasoning, long-running agentic coding, vision, professional knowledge work and multi-agent collaboration. It supports a 1-million-token context window, up to 128K output tokens, adaptive thinking by default and five effort levels from low to max. Anthropic deployed it to Claude, Claude Code, the Claude API and major cloud platforms on July 24, 2026; the API identifier is claude-opus-5.
