Anthropic restores global access to Claude Fable 5

Anthropic restored global access to Claude Fable 5 on July 1 after the U.S. government lifted the export controls that had forced a temporary shutdown.

Event details

The U.S. government lifted export controls on Fable 5 and Mythos 5 on June 30. Anthropic restored Fable 5 globally the next day across the Claude Platform, Claude.ai, Claude Code, and Claude Cowork, while access through cloud partners was scheduled to return as quickly as possible. Mythos 5 remained limited to a set of U.S. organizations approved by the government.

Why it matters

The redeployment ended an abrupt global interruption and became a test of how quickly a frontier-model provider could restore availability after a government access restriction.

68/100Global significance score. Regional effects are recorded only when the evidence supports a meaningful difference.

Access notes

Fable 5 returned globally on July 1, 2026. Mythos 5 remained restricted to approved U.S. organizations while Anthropic sought broader access for Project Glasswing partners.
